Captains Quarters Resort, with FREE boat report
With the water so clear we have been down sizing our hooks and line, since the fish can see heavy line and tackle. Long casts and fresh chunked lady fish are the hot baits for red fish. Mangrove points and shady over hangs are producing great catches. Snook are hot on Honeymoon’s dog beach and Hurricane Pass. If you have the right bait, cast nets some live finger mullet there. They will hit others baits, but the snook are feeding on mullet during outgoing tides. Always try to use baits they are feeding on. Sharks are a sure thing for the big pull; the catch has been very active. Guests John, Angela, and best friend Dave caught an estimated 30 sharks and cobias. Recent guest Roger caught tons of trout all week. On his last day it was a dark, warm, rainy morning with no wind. It was like The Old Man of the Sea and nobody was going fishing because of the steady rain, but Roger. An hour or so later, he returns with an incredible story about all the fish he caught… another great vacation. I’ve been busy with the new condo as of lately, but soon would like to take guests on a sun set cruise/combo shark or black drum fish trip. (Free)
